Pierre-Auguste Renoir (February 25, 1841 - December 3, 1919) was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. He developed several artistic techniques including the practice of painting outdoors, loose brushstrokes and the use of bright color to represent light and atmospheric effects. He celebrated beauty and especially feminine sensuality, often depicting women in his paintings. Two of his most famous paintings were Dance of the Moulin De La Galette and Luncheon of the Boating Party.
